The Putuo location on Wuning Road comes with real advantages and one practical caveat worth naming plainly. If part of your reason for visiting is to see how the city actually lives rather than its postcard version, Putuo delivers that better than any hotel in Xintiandi. The caveat: Putuo is not a primary tourist district.
