Climb above Yalong Bay into the green hills behind it — the rope bridge from the film If You Are the One, a glass skywalk at 450 metres, and the spot where the whole sweep of Yalong Bay opens up beneath your feet.
There is a moment on the glass platform that juts off the cliff, roughly 450 metres above sea level, when the wind moves across the rainforest canopy in every direction and you look ahead — and the entire crescent of Yalong Bay is laid out in front of you. White sand curving like a quarter moon, water shading from jade green to deep blue, the resort strip a thin line at its edge. It is a view the beach below simply cannot give you, and it is the first reason people make the trip up.
Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park (亚龙湾热带天堂森林公园) is a large rainforest park spread across the mountains that wrap around the back of Yalong Bay, about 25 km east of central Sanya. It covers more than 1,500 hectares, with over a dozen peaks, more than 1,500 species of tropical plants, and timber boardwalks that take you straight into the forest. The park became known across China after it served as a key location for the hit film If You Are the One 2 (非诚勿扰 2), shot at the rope bridge and the bird's-nest villas here.
One thing to plan around: this is not a small garden you finish in an hour. It is a whole mountain. The ticket therefore includes a shuttle bus up and down — and you'll want it, because walking up under the tropical sun would finish you before you reached the first stop. Set aside half a day, and save the summit view as your closing highlight.
All linked by the shuttle bus — get off at any stop, explore, then catch the next bus on.
The single thing most people climb up here to stand on — a clear glass platform and walkway about 400 metres long, wrapped around a giant natural Maitreya Buddha boulder on the park's highest peak. Look down through the glass at the treetops, then lift your eyes and the whole of Yalong Bay is in front of you. It is the best photo and selfie spot in the park (charged separately, about ¥98).
A steel rope bridge slung between two peaks — 168 metres long and around 40 metres above the valley floor, the longest and highest rope bridge in Hainan. It is the scene that made the park famous: the moment the characters cross above the forest in If You Are the One 2. Crossing it, the gentle sway is exactly enough of a thrill without being frightening (charged separately, about ¥20).
More than 200 nest-shaped villas scattered across the hillside, built from timber and natural materials to blend into the rainforest. The villa used in If You Are the One 2 is a pilgrimage stop for fans of the film. Even if you are not staying the night, you can wander the grounds and shoot the mountain views from the shared terraces.
A viewing tower and several terraces along the ridge that face Yalong Bay head-on. This is the honest reason the climb pays off — the curve of the beach, the row of resorts and the small offshore islands all in a single frame. Late morning to mid-afternoon gives the best light; on a clear day you can read every shade of the water below.
Between the main stops, wooden walkways and forest paths let you explore the tropical rainforest up close — past giant banyans, twisting vines and pockets of cool, damp shade. Good for anyone who wants more than just photo spots. But if the sun is fierce or it's raining, just take the shuttle over the steep stretches — no need to push it.
The main ticket is seasonal — low season (May–Sept) around ¥140 per person (~฿700) and high season (Oct–Apr) around ¥158 per person (~฿790). Both include the shuttle bus up and down the mountain, which matters because the park is big and steep.
The two most popular highlights are charged separately — the glass skywalk at about ¥98 and the 过江龙 rope bridge at about ¥20. If you are coming specifically for those, budget for them. All prices can change with the season, so check before you go or book a package ahead through Klook.
Once you have your ticket, you board the shuttle straight up the mountain — and you can get on and off at any stop you like. The bus loops between all the main points, from the first stop at Orchid Valley up to the final stop at the glass skywalk on the summit. The easiest way to do it is to ride all the way to the top first, then work your way back down stop by stop.
There are boardwalks linking nearby stops where the distance is short, but if it's a scorching day or the slope is steep, just wait for the next bus — you don't have to walk every section.
The best plan is to arrive early, soon after opening (~8–9 am), to beat the midday heat and the crowds that build through the morning. Ride the shuttle to the top first and take in the glass skywalk and the Yalong Bay viewpoints while the light is still soft and the sky is clear, then work your way down to the rope bridge and the bird's-nest villas.
Allow 3–4 hours in total. Bring water, a hat and comfortable shoes — even with the shuttle, each stop still involves some stairs and ramps. If you plan to photograph the skywalk, leave room in your timing for queues on weekends and holidays.
The park is on the hills behind Yalong Bay, about 25 km from central Sanya. The simplest option is a taxi or ride-hailing app.
Stay in Yalong Bay, do the forest park first thing, then hit the white-sand beach the same day.
