Kantary Hotel Ayutthaya — Apartment-Sized Suites With Kitchens and a 16th-Floor Sky Pool

If you want an Ayutthaya stay where the room feels more like a condo than a hotel, Kantary Hotel Ayutthaya is the name that comes up first for a lot of guests. It's a 4-star serviced apartment on Rojana Road where even the smallest suite starts at 46 sqm with a kitchen, a full-sized fridge, and a separate living corner. The detail guests keep returning to in their reviews is the outdoor pool on the 16th floor, which looks out over the city — best of all at sunset, when the light drops over the old town.

Our Full Review

Kantary Hotel Ayutthaya opened in 2009 under the Kantary / Cape & Kantary group, which has built serviced-apartment-style hotels across several Thai cities. The building is a 16-storey tower on Rojana Road, and the 188 units split into Studio Suites at 46 sqm, One Bedroom Suites at 74 sqm, and Two Bedroom Suites at 105 sqm. Every room has a small kitchen, a full-sized fridge, a microwave, and a dining table — which makes it a sensible pick for multi-night stays, families, or anyone who'd rather cook a meal in than eat out three times a day.

The standout here is the outdoor pool on the 16th floor. It's a long open-air pool with a jacuzzi, gym, sauna and steam room all on the same level. Late afternoon the light comes in low and you can see the city of Ayutthaya stretching out wide — several guests describe an evening swim up there as the part they didn't want to leave. Early risers get the same pool almost to themselves before anyone else is awake.

"The room was far bigger than expected, with a proper kitchen and a large fridge. Heading up to swim on the 16th floor in the evening, you can see the whole city — well worth the price."

The main restaurant is The California Steak, serving steaks, seafood, international plates and Thai food. Breakfast is a buffet that guests mention often for its range and the fact that the spread changes daily rather than repeating the same plates every morning. There's a Thai side, a Western side, and a made-to-order egg station. For a hotel at this price point in Ayutthaya, breakfast is one of the things that scores consistently well.

On location, the honest truth is this — Kantary is not next to the historical park. It sits on Rojana Road on the Uthai District side, outside the city island. A car or Grab gets you to the old temple zone (Wat Mahathat, Wat Phra Si Sanphet) in about 10–15 minutes. The upside is that this side is quieter, traffic is light, and parking is easy. If you've driven yourself it's genuinely convenient, with quick access back onto the Asia Highway. Without a car, though, budget for Grab fares to and from the sights.

The overall score sits at 9.2/10 from 176 reviews on Trip.com. Room size and cleanliness rate highly. The honest feedback from lower-rated reviews flags some furniture that looks well-used — the hotel has been open since 2009, even with a 2022 refresh — and a location you can't walk to the temples from. Worth knowing up front, so you're not expecting a brand-new room or a stroll into the old town.

Kantary Hotel Ayutthaya

On price, a Studio Suite starts around ฿1,900–2,400/night on weekdays, which is strong value for 46 sqm of floor space. Long weekends and festival dates push that toward ฿3,000+. The One Bedroom Suite at 74 sqm suits a small family and starts near ฿3,200. As always, compare Agoda, Booking and Trip.com before you commit — the discount on each platform isn't the same.

The bottom line: Kantary Hotel Ayutthaya works best for families or groups who want a large room with a kitchen at a reachable price and don't mind a short drive into town. The 16th-floor city-view pool is the kind of extra you rarely get at this level. If your priority is sleeping next to the temples and walking the old town from your door, this isn't the one — but if you're travelling with several people, have a car, and value the space, it's real value for money.

Honest Take
🎯
This place is a great fit if...
Kantary Hotel Ayutthaya gets you a large room with a kitchen for far less than a riverside Boutique in town, in exchange for a location you'll drive into the temple zone from. It suits travellers who value floor space and group room over walking to the old town from the lobby.
💡 Check before you book
These 3 points matter to some travellers — make sure they fit your trip (we have added the workaround).
  • 💡If you don't have your own car — budget for Grab to and from the historical park (roughly ฿80–150 each way) → there's no regular public transport at the door, but Grab pickups work fine
  • 💡If you want the best-condition room — ask at booking for a higher floor or a recently refreshed unit → the hotel opened in 2009 and some rooms have older furniture than others
  • 💡If you're staying several nights or travelling as a family — the 46 sqm Studio has enough kitchen to cook simple meals and save on dining out → there's a convenience store and a market near the hotel for supplies
