🐾 Why is Khao Yai a favourite for Bangkok dog-owners?
Khao Yai is only a 2.5–3 hour drive from Bangkok, it's cooler up in the hills, and it has the open lawns and gardens a dog needs to run — which makes it one of the most popular weekend escapes for people travelling with a dog. Unlike the beach, you're not stuck under harsh sun all day, and plenty of resorts here take pets seriously, with lawns, gardens, and even off-leash dog runs. This article gathers 7 Khao Yai resorts that genuinely welcome dogs to stay (most take cats and other pets too). We've checked the pet policy for every one — free or a fee, whether there's a weight limit, whether pets stay in the room or only in certain villas — and we say it plainly for each. All are net-new versus our luxury, couples and family Khao Yai roundups, with prices compared across 3 sites and direct booking links. One thing to plan around: Khao Yai National Park itself does NOT allow pets inside, so on the day you go into the forest you'll leave your dog at the resort — which is why a place that's comfortable for pets matters.
🚇
Khao Yai has no BTS or MRT. There is a northeastern-line train to Pak Chong town (Bangkok–Pak Chong about 3–4 hours) and frequent buses and vans from Bangkok (Mo Chit / Northern Bus Terminal, about 2.5–3 hours). But ⚠️ if you're travelling with a pet you really need a car — the resorts, gardens, cafés and the park gate are spread out for tens of kilometres along Thanarat Road (Route 2090) and the side roads of Mu Si, there is essentially no public transport up to most of them, and getting a dog onto a van or shared transport is awkward. Self-driving from Bangkok is by far the easiest (the dog rides with you the whole trip); a hire car or a private transfer works too, and most resorts here have free parking. Main zones: Thanarat Rd–Mu Si, the resort-and-café strip running up toward the park gate (Arantarakiri, KIN, Marasca) · Khanong Phra, on the approach to Khao Yai before Pak Chong (Jupiter Trevi) · Phaya Yen–Wang Kata, the cooler southern side (The Peri, Limon) · Pak Chong, the train-and-market town (The Paz, on a hill near town).

📍 Nong Sarai, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima
The Paz is a design resort whose main building, restaurant and infinity pool sit on a hilltop looking out over open fields and the hills beyond, scoring 8.8 from 64 reviews. What makes it work for dog-owners is that it takes pets in its Horizon and Scenery rooms (฿1,200/night, pets up to 12 kg), with the rooms opening onto a terrace and lawn for the dog to potter about. There are private heated pool villas if you want a pool in your room, and a hilltop restaurant guests praise for the view and the breakfast. It's on a hill near Pak Chong, about a 25-minute drive to the park gate — and since the park doesn't allow pets, you'll leave the dog here on forest days.
💡 Tip: Tell them you're bringing a pet when you book and specify a Horizon or Scenery room, as not every room takes pets. Rooms sell out fast and rates climb in the cool season and on weekends, so book ahead. It's breezy and cool at night on the hill — bring a blanket for the dog.
👍 Pros
- ✓ Main building and infinity pool on a hilltop, wide field-and-hill views
- ✓ Pets in Horizon/Scenery rooms, ฿1,200/night, up to 12 kg
- ✓ Private heated pool villas available if you want a pool
- ✓ Well-rated restaurant and breakfast · on-site parking
👎 Things to note
- ✗ Pets in select rooms only — dogs over 12 kg can't stay
- ✗ On a hill, about a 25-minute drive to the park gate — needs a car

📍 16 Moo 8, Khanong Phra, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima
Jupiter Trevi is an Italian-European-themed resort with the most committed pet welcome on this list — it takes dogs of any size in designated rooms (฿2,000/night per pet), puts food and water bowls in the room, and has an off-leash area where dogs can run, scoring 8.9 from 104 reviews. The resort itself is built around 3 large pools with a waterslide and a whirlpool, plus a spa and restaurants, and guests often call it a favourite in Khao Yai for the friendly service and the fun for families. It's on the Khanong Phra side on the approach to Khao Yai, about a 20-minute drive to the park gate.
💡 Tip: Book a room marked pet-friendly and give them your pet count in advance. Take the dog to the off-leash run in the cool of the early morning or evening. With a waterslide and a shallow pool, it's a good pick if you've come as a family.
👍 Pros
- ✓ Dogs of any size, with an off-leash run to let them loose
- ✓ Food and water bowls set out in the room
- ✓ 3 pools, a waterslide, a whirlpool and an on-site spa
- ✓ Agoda 8.9, attentive staff, good for the whole family

- ✗ Heavily themed, and the pools get busy on weekends

📍 Bandai Ma, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima
Marasca is a Small Luxury Hotels design resort built around privacy and nature, scoring 9.0 on Booking. The part for dog-owners is the Home Haven Villa — the dedicated pet-friendly villa type, each with its own private plunge pool and a garden beside the villa. A first dog 0–7 kg stays free; an extra or larger dog carries a ฿1,500–2,500/night fee. There's plenty of space to walk the dog: the resort's vegetable garden, The Meadow lawn, and the ground floor of the Tree Top café, where pets can sit with you (the second floor and a few zones are off-limits). It's on the Bandai Ma side, about a 30-minute drive to the park gate.
💡 Tip: You must book a Home Haven Villa to bring the dog. Pets need to be house-trained and leashed in all shared areas. There are only a handful of villas and they're hard to get in the cool season, so book well ahead.
👍 Pros
- ✓ Home Haven Villa is dedicated pet-friendly; first dog 0–7 kg free
- ✓ Each villa has a private plunge pool and a garden alongside
- ✓ Veg garden, The Meadow lawn and a pet-OK café ground floor
- ✓ Small Luxury Hotels design and quiet, private grounds

📍 Pong Talong, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima
Limon Villa (by Tolani / Small Luxury Hotels) is a cluster of stand-alone cottages set in the hills, and the draw for dog-owners is that each cottage has its own garden and terrace, so the dog can step straight out the front and wander. It takes pets up to 20 kg for ฿600/night (over 20 kg, ฿1,000). The grounds are laid out as a European-style flower garden with the lemon trees the name refers to, plus a pool with mountain views and a kids' pool, and Mona Restaurant serving international food over the garden. It's on the Pong Talong–Wang Kata side, about a 15-minute drive to the park gate. Some reviews flag upkeep on a few points and the Wi-Fi, so set expectations.
💡 Tip: Ask for a cottage with a more open garden so the dog has room to run. Give your dog's weight when booking, as the fee changes at 20 kg. Bring your dog's own toys and bed — a stand-alone cottage is easier than a room in a block.
👍 Pros
- ✓ Stand-alone cottages with a private garden and terrace out front
- ✓ Pets up to 20 kg, ฿600/night; over that, ฿1,000
- ✓ European flower garden, pool with mountain views and a kids' pool

📍 36/2 Soi Chunladit 2, Moo 4, Mu Si, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima
Arantarakiri is a cluster of stand-alone cottages in Mu Si that is unusually pet-welcoming, scoring 8.4 from 232 reviews. The standout is that it takes up to 6 pets, with small dogs under 10 kg at just ฿500/night (over 10 kg, ฿1,000) — the lowest fee on this list. There are 14 cottages, each with a terrace and a mountain-view garden for the dog to wander, plus free bikes to ride around the grounds, a shared pool, and free parking. Guests who've brought dogs say the dogs love the greenery and the staff are easy-going, and breakfast can be delivered to the room. It's about a 10-minute drive to the park gate, near Hokkaido Flower Park.
💡 Tip: The per-pet fee is low and it takes several dogs, so it suits owners with more than one — just declare the number when you book. Borrow a bike and walk the dog alongside around the grounds in the evening. The pool is shared and pets can't go in, so let them play on the lawn instead.

The Peri Hotel is a long-running Khao Yai boutique with well over a thousand reviews, scoring 8.3 on Trip.com and ranked #1 of the hotels in Phaya Yen. The part for dog-owners is that it takes pets in its Studio Suite rooms (฿1,500/night, dogs up to 18 kg), with the rooms opening onto a terrace and wide gardens for the dog to wander. Every room has its own mountain-view terrace, and there's an outdoor pool, a fitness room, and a lobby fireplace that's welcome in the cool season. It's on the cooler Phaya Yen side, about a 20-minute drive to the park gate.

📍 Mu Si, Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima
KIN Pool Villa is a Nordic-style whole-house rental with 5 bedrooms and a private infinity pool set on a hill over the mountains. It suits travelling with a dog as a group or a whole family, because you have the entire house to yourselves — the dog roams the house and lawn freely, with no other guests to share with. It takes both dogs and cats at ฿500/pet/night. There's a full kitchen with a BBQ grill, it sleeps roughly 10–20, and it's in Mu Si about a 5-minute drive to the park gate — the closest on this list. It's a whole-house rental with few online reviews so far, so contact the owner to confirm the details and pet rules before booking.
💡 Tip: Booking the whole house only pays off with a group, where the per-head cost is reasonable. Confirm your pet count and the pool rules with the owner before booking. Being closest to the park gate, it's easy to leave the dog at the house and drive into the park on forest days.
👍 Pros
