The Pavilions is a hilltop pool-villa resort above Layan Beach, at the northern end of the Bang Tao–Cherng Talay zone, around 100 metres above the sea, scoring 9.0 from 55 reviews and 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor. Each villa runs about 90 sqm with its own long private infinity pool facing the Andaman Sea or coconut groves. There's a rooftop bar called 360 for sunset cocktails over the bay, the Italian restaurant Alto and a spa. It isn't on the beach — you take a buggy down the hill and a shuttle to Layan Beach — but the trade is seclusion and a view that's hard to find elsewhere. It suits couples and honeymooners more than families with small children.
- ✓ Private infinity pool in every villa, very private and quiet

- ✗ Not on the beach — a buggy down the hill then a shuttle to Layan
- ✗ Lots of slopes and steps around the resort — not ideal for small kids or limited mobility
