From the lanes of an 18th-century temple quarter to the top of Taipei 101, a wish lantern at Shifen and a final soak in the Beitou hot springs — an hour-by-hour, 4-day plan with MRT directions and a real budget, built so you can travel Taipei on your own.
Three days in Taipei makes for a "complete" trip — but 4 days and 3 nights is the version where nothing feels rushed. There is room to breathe: time to linger over a pot of tea in an old Jiufen teahouse without watching the clock, and still enough left over for a relaxing soak in the Beitou hot springs before you fly home.
Like our shorter itinerary, this one is organised by zone so you never double back — Day 1 explores the old town of Wanhua and Ximending, Day 2 takes on the Xinyi district and Taipei 101, Day 3 is a full day trip to Jiufen and Shifen, and Day 4 winds down gently with a museum or an onsen before departure.
Every stop is reachable by MRT or bus. Ticket prices in the plan are in NT$ (NT$1 ≈ US$0.031). It suits both first-time visitors and anyone who wants to go a little deeper than a quick weekend trip allows.
Each stop includes transport directions, MRT lines and estimated costs — and links through to Wherebest's in-depth guide for that place. Feel free to adjust the timings to your pace.
