Hotel Habita — Polanco

An iconic design boutique in Polanco with a frosted-glass facade, rooftop pool and city-view bar — a must for design lovers, at a more reachable price than the 5-stars.

Our Full Review

Hotel Habita is one of Mexico City's iconic design boutiques, in Polanco, by TEN Arquitectos (Enrique Norten) — wrapped in a translucent frosted-glass facade that's become a contemporary architecture landmark. If you love design or architecture, the building itself is the reason to stay, with Polanco shopping and Chapultepec nearby.

"Iconic architecture — a frosted-glass facade by TEN Arquitectos"

Polanco district, Mexico City

It's part of Grupo Habita, known for stylish hotels across Mexico. Rooms are minimalist and modern, with clean lines and natural light; some have terraces. They're boutique-compact (not as large as a 5-star) but well-designed and clean — ideal for those who value style over space.

The highlight is the rooftop — a pool and the Area bar with city views, a popular evening drinks spot for guests and stylish locals, with a very chic vibe. There's also a small Aqua spa.

It suits couples, design lovers, a younger crowd, or travellers wanting Polanco's cool at a more reachable price than the luxury hotels. From around MXN 4,000/night, it's great value for this design and location — about half of Las Alcobas in the same area.

Condesa district, Mexico City

Worth knowing — with its minimalist focus, rooms can be small and some functions simpler than a big hotel. If you want a large room or full 5-star service, adjust expectations — the draw is style, the rooftop and value.

Also, the popular rooftop bar can be noisy/busy on weekends. For quiet, ask for a lower or interior room. And Polanco is upscale, so surroundings cost more than Roma/Condesa.

Roma district, Mexico City

Thai travellers should note the Mexico visa rule: you need one unless you hold a valid US, Canadian, Japanese, UK or Schengen visa for visa-free entry — confirm before flying. Polanco is safe and walkable, and from Habita you can reach the Anthropology Museum and Chapultepec on foot. The city sits high at 2,240m, so pace day one. What makes Habita special is that you're staying inside a genuine piece of contemporary architecture for roughly half the price of the luxury hotels nearby — design lovers get the rooftop, the views and the address without the five-star bill.

Bottom line: Hotel Habita is the best-value iconic design boutique in Polanco — standout architecture, a city-view rooftop and a reachable price — ideal for true design lovers.
